For anyone wondering whether to go with the Lake District Walker or go it alone, I would recommend the company. It has been interesting how many of them are repeat bookers with TLDW. Gary & Joanna Swinney, We did scafell pike on 30th august. It's a lovely place to to sit outside and enjoy a drink on warmer days. Paul, our guide was incredibly patient with me as I seem to have my own particular logic in understanding the natural landscape and points of a compass! There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. In fact they are keen (as are we!) The view from the beer garden must be one of the best in these islands, and having a pint of Loweswater gold here is a memorable experience. Fangs Brow to Loweswater If wonderful views over Loweswater towards Crummock Water and Grasmoor, woodland paths and a wonderful 16th century pub at the end are your thing, then this is the trek for you! He made a tough walk very enjoyable and passed on a wealth of information regarding peaks etc. I cetainly achievd my aims (learning how to move safely on the snowy fells, using crampons and wielding an ice axe.) Apart from him pointing the way I didn't find any of the scrambling difficult and enjoyed every minute. I would recommend this to anyone who is not confident in attempting such a walk without a guide and you don't have to be superfit to attempt it. Had a great walk last Monday, Grasmere to high raise. Many thanks. I've managed to "get by" with map & compass over many years, but now feel far more confident in applying the skills more accurately. John, was first class on my recent Great Gables walk. So we met John and I intrusted him with my family . She showed interest in all of us and we all had a great chat with a walk thrown in. Have walked in Lakes and elsewhere quite extensively - always with social based walking groups . Really good group with the same abilities. We are fairly new to fell walking, only been doing it about 3 months. Excellent day. We'll be back. Really enjoyed the experience and definitely feel more confident with navigation and use of my new equipment.I would not hesitate to book further activities and friends have already asked for recommendations. Neil was our guide for our group of five. Loweswater is a small hamlet situated between Loweswater and Crummock waters. Myself and a group of friend completed Ben Nevis with you guys last weekend, great day so thanks John for that. You pitched it perfectly giving us lots of opportunity to practice. Just reach the top of Scafell pike it was a great day a bit windy, but warn and when the sun comes through its georgeous and views breathtaking. Friendly groups and some amazing scenery. Paul was leading off my group and he was particularly helpful to a couple of members who were a little bit apprehensive and they have since said that they wouldn’t have managed to do it without Paul’s support and expertise. The Lakeland 3000's 3 day challenge was amazing , exceeding my (already high !) Thoroughly enjoyed the scramble over Striding Edge then onto Helvellyn for views as far as the eye could see. Thanks to our guide Armold for his patience and cheerfulness despite the torrential rain and 50mph winds and for getting us to the top and back safely. We can't wait for our next visit to the Lakes and will be back in touch to arrange the Scafell Pike trip! Overall highly recommended. I have climbed Mts Snowdon (twice), the Ben and Kilimanjaro (though was too ill to summit), but the terrain at Scafell Pike was unexpected and challenging; I also lacked energy and my mojo had gone AWOL. John and his team of consistently exceptional guides have encouraged and supported me to attempt walks I could never have imagined doing and yet did.
